In August 1944, Berl Katznelson died in Jerusalem. A Jewish Telegraphic Agency bulletin dated 14 August said he had died the previous evening of a hemorrhage, and that he was the editor of Davar. He was born in Bobruisk in 1887 and settled in Palestine in 1909.

The Jewish Virtual Library records that he died in 1944, before the state he had argued for was established.
