On this day, the Jerusalem District Court sentenced Adolf Eichmann to death. Judges Moshe Landau, Benjamin Halevi, and Yitzhak Raveh had read the guilty verdict on 11 December. The sentence followed on 15 December 1961.

The trial had opened on 11 April 1961. Gideon Hausner prosecuted. More than a hundred Holocaust survivors testified. Eichmann’s appeal was later rejected. The hanging of 31 May–1 June 1962 is a separate story.
