On this day, Florence Prag Kahn won a special election to the United States House from San Francisco. The House historian records the date as 17 February 1925. She filled the vacancy left by her husband, Julius Kahn, who died on 18 December 1924 after he had been re-elected.

She was the first Jewish woman elected to Congress. The House dates her service from 17 February 1925 to 3 January 1937.
