On this day, Frank Blaichman was born in Kamionka, near Lublin. USHMM also records the spelling Bleichman. He was 16 when Germany invaded Poland in September 1939.

He refused the imposed Jewish armband and later joined other Jews hiding in the forest. The Jewish Partisan Educational Foundation records that he helped organize an armed group that attacked German patrols and collaborators. His memoir, Rather Die Fighting, appeared in 2009. He died in New York on 27 December 2018, at 96.
