On this day, the American Jewish Committee asked Jews to wear something identifiably Jewish and to post photographs with the hashtag JewishandProud. AJC also invited people who are not Jewish to post their support.
AJC records that the day followed the January 5 “No Hate. No Fear.” march across the Brooklyn Bridge, which AJC cosponsored. David Harris, then AJC’s chief executive, said the point was that Jews would not shy away from showing their identity in public.
