Shaul Tchernichovsky was born in Mikhailovka, in Russia, in 1875. The Jewish Virtual Library records that he grew up in a religious home open to the Enlightenment, trained as a physician, and settled in Tel Aviv in 1931 as a school doctor.
The YIVO Encyclopedia records that he died in Jerusalem in October 1943.
