On this day, Jewish families from Jaffa gathered on the Mediterranean dunes and drew lots for sixty-six plots of Ahuzat Bayit, the garden suburb that became Tel Aviv. Akiva Arieh Weiss chaired the organizing committee. The Jewish National Fund had helped finance the land.
