In June 1967, the ZIM ship Dolphin passed through the Straits of Tiran toward Eilat. The Israel Film Archive calls it the first Israeli ship to do so after Egypt closed the straits, and says the passage came 20 days after that closure. An Israeli naval boat escorted the ship.
Prime Minister Levi Eshkol recorded that Egypt announced the closing on the morning of 23 May.
