Labour and its leader, Yitzhak Rabin, are elected to lead the next Israeli government. Rabin would become the 10th Minister of Defense and, for the second time in his career, Prime Minister of Israel. Rabin had previously served as Prime Minister from 1974-1977. .

Rabin’s 1992 re-election was largely centered around the attempted peace process between Israel and the Palestinians. The enormity of such a geo-political task was not foreign to Rabin. He had been instrumental militarily during the 6 Day War and during his first bout as Prime Minister, signed the Sinai Interim Agreement and ordered the raid on Entebbe. .

Rabin would go on to form the government and officially become Prime Minister on July 13th, 1992. One of his primary tasks would be presiding over the bilateral peace agreement known as Oslo I between Israel and the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) or what would soon be renamed as the Palestinian Authority. Rabin, Shimon Peres and PLO Head Yassar Arafat shared the Nobel Peace Prize in 1994 although the reality on the ground told a different story. Two months after the signing of Oslo II in September of 1995, Yitzhak Rabin was assassinated amidst an already derailed peace process.
