On This Day in Jewish History: November 30

#onthisday, 1947, a day after the Jewish dancing in the streets for the Partition Plan that would give way for an independent Jewish state, Arabs in Mandatory Palestine and abroad unleashed violence on Jewish people inside the region and abroad.
.
This violence gave way to the Israeli War of Independence and the ultimate expulsion and ethnic cleansing of over 850,000 Jews from the Middle East, North Africa, and eventually, Iran. Over the next 3 decades, a rich and vibrant Jewish presence dating back to the first century in these countries would be no more.
.
We honor those who endured such trauma in these years – family members lost, property stolen, and heritage forgotten. We stand by our Mizrahi and Persian brothers and sisters as we recognize this Day of Remembrance.
