#onthisday, 1967, the UN Security Council unanimously votes for Resolution 242, becoming the first UN-based resolution widely accepted by both sides (Israel & Arab bloc) – in the future, this resolution would act as a precedent for peace deals such as the one with Egypt – essentially creating the “Land for Peace” initiative of the late 70’s.

Historically it was also the first resolution to recognize the refugee crisis created within the Mizrachi and MENA Jewish community since the creation of the State of Israel in 1948.
